E.on now have an 0345 number that customers can call in on for billing enquiries, payments and meter readings.

I'm told this number will cost the same as an 01 or 02 number, same as a standard line number. This should be the same for both mobile and landline phones, check with your provider though.
03 numbers have been assigned by OFCOM to replace numbers beginning with 084 and 087.

A great website this one, if you are planning to visit the North West of England, in particular, the City of Manchester and it's surrounding areas.

The Manchester city council's website lists services, etc, but more importantly, events that the council and other official bodies have running.

See the "sixties" and "chinese reflections" exhibitions, spending the day at York castle is great value for money!

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) works to protect consumers by regulating industry and services and their respective ombudsmen.
An example of their work, would be the on-going test case regarding bank charges they are fighting through the courts.

They have regular updates on each case of their latest work advertised on their front page. I've dealt directly with them regarding a financial institution mis-handling a case, which although they were not responsible for, they still provided valuable information that I could include in a letter, which resolved the matter in my favour and caused the financial institution to back down from the position they were taking.

If you have a problem you are struggling with, I would advise ringing them directly, if they are unable to help they will be able to point you in the right direction.

The Trading standards website is full of information.
They have a postcode finder for your nearest local offices, phone numbers, general information, even training schemes for small businesses!
